Annapurna Region

Just as much popular as the Everest region with the tourists, this region offers spectacular panoramic views of the Annapurna Himalaya range. Beautiful small ethnic villages along the way right in the face of majestic Himalayan range and the beautiful Macchapuchhre (Fish Tail) Mountain makes this part of the trekking even more special. Pokhara, some 200 kilometers west of the Kathmandu Valley and also known as a “Lake City” is the main city center from where start almost all treks to this region. The city of Pokhara seemingly struggling to catch up with the 21st century has actually a lot to offer as trekkers come back for an ultimate rest in this beautiful city. Whether it be the boat ride in the morning sun in the Phewa Lake, or late night pub-hopping; whether it be outdoor barbecue buffet at lakeside restaurants or roadside massage parlors, they are all here for your comfort and pleasure.

Brahamans, Chhetris, and Gurungs inhabit the lower part of the Annapurna region and from Kaligandaki Valley to Jomsom is mostly occupied by Thakalis. The upper part of the region is inhabited by people who migrated from Tibet long ago. Kagbeni , Mustang, Jomsom and Muktinath in this region are the main highlights of this region. Mustang once used be one of the small kingdoms some 300 years ago and still has a ceremonial king.
